Magic
There are four different types of magic within the Aeonic universe, and some of them can get rather complex. In many cases the various forms of magic can overlap or work together in different ways, but this has been written up to make it as clear and cohesive as possible. The four types of magic are:
Ritual, Enhancement, Makik, and Elemental.

Elemental - Heiun
Elemetal magic, or Heiun (literally translating to just “magic”) is the most standard and basic form of magic in the Aeonic universe. How someone ends up with a certain element appears to be related to genetics in some ways, but there are also a few other rules that go into the element pool any fya might have.
There are three types of elemental magic: Primary, Secondary, and Special

A person in the Aeonic universe can have an affinity for one or more of any of these elements, however there are a few rules. The elements are split between what magical biases both Fulfillment and the Nameless God themselves have. The elements of a person within the Aeonic universe will be selected from either Fulfillment or the Nameless God’s elements and cannot be mixed under normal means. The elements on the line between the two Gods are shared elements that can fall under either category.
This means that a person having an affinity for the Fire, Earth, Light*, and Plant elements would fall under the Nameless God’s magical bias and could not also have an affinity for the Water, Wind, Ice, Storm, or Darkness* elements.
A person having affinities for Water, Poison, and Plant would fall under Fulfillment’s bias because of the Water element and could not also have any elements exclusive to the Nameless God’s magical bias.
It is impossible to have only shared elements.
The primary and special Heiun Elements can be combined to create one of the secondary elements without the person having to have the affinity for the secondary element. However, the element will always be more powerful and easier to use for a person that has the affinity for an element as opposed to a person who has to create it out of another element. In many cases it will require multiple people to create a secondary element.
The combinations to create a secondary element are as follows:

In many cases it will require multiple people to create a secondary element.
The combinations to create a secondary element are as follows:
Fire + Earth = Lava (or) Metal
Earth + Light (and/or) Water = Plant
Earth + Wind = Rock
Rock + Wind = Sand
Darkness + Earth (and/or) Water = Poison
Wind + Water = Ice (or) Storm
(Lightning can be added for Storm)
*The Special Heiun Elements, Light and Darkness, work a little differently than the rest of the elements. They can be added to various spells to either enhance or deminish the spell, to bless or to curse. These elements are usually not physical spells, but when they are it’s seen as a defect.
A physical, attack-based Light or Darkness spell is very rare, but also incredibly weak and seen as bordline useless. Those unfortunate enough to have a physical version of these elements are unable to preform the blessings and curses normally associated with these elements.
They also tend to match the wrong God’s bias. A person with an affinity for Fire might end up with a physical Darkness element and a person with an affinity for Water might end up with a physical Light element.

Ritual - Heiden
Ritual, or Heiden (literally translating to “false magic”) based magic is the only form of “unnatural” magic in the Aeonic universe. For this reason it is most often associated with the dark arts or witchcraft and is looked down on by the majority of society.
Heiden magic is used by creating a series of runes or writing to make a spell. In most cases the runes are etched out in stone tablets or on special types of parchment, however it is not unheard of for someone to create the runes in the dirt or some other less solid medium. Using unstable mediums, however, can be dangerous since the spell can be corrupted if the runes are disturbed. Exactly what happens with a corrupted spell depends on the spell itself.
Enhancement - Heivl
Enhancement, or Heivl (literally translates to “pure magic”) based magic is a natural type of magic that can be found in certain kinds of stones and minerals in nature. Most of this type of magic will eventually be drained away and lost until it can replenish. However, due the many years, decades, or even centuries it can take for this type of magic to regenerate, it is incredibly rare and used only sparingly.
Heivl magic is generally used for enchanting or enhancing other forms of magic. One common use is to make certain spells more potent so it’s easier to grow fertile crops in otherwise harsh environments. While more uncommon, Heivl magic has also been used for the opposite effect where it can dull down the potency of another spell. Heivl differs from the Light and Darkness elements in the sense that is more efficent and causes no drain to the user’s magic levels or stamina.

Heijhan Trak
The Heijhan Trak (literally “Forbidden God Magic”) are a peculiar set of spells that are generally thought to be Heiden magic, though some people have speculated they may actually be Heivl due to having similar properties and uses to the Heivl-based magic. Because of these discrepancies and the unusual nature of these spells, Heijhan Trak magic has been given it’s own section.
The Heijhan Trak are a set of spells existing for all of the 15 Heiun Elements, life, and death. These spells directly affect the element of the person who unlocks it. A Heijhan Trak will greatly enhance the power and abilities of the matching element, as well as give the host a complete immunity to said element.
(For example, if someone unlocked the Heijhan Trak for the Water Element, any of their water-based spells would be enhanced in a similar way to elements being enhanced by Heivl magic. However, any element enhanced by a Heijhan Trak will be enhanced to a significantly larger degree than standard Heivl magic could enhance it. In addition to this enhancement, the host of the Water Heijhan Trak would also have a full immunity to any dangers presented by water (such as having the ability to breathe underwater).
The host of the Lava Heijhan Trak would not be burned by lava, though they could be burned by strong enough fire. The host of the Metal Heijhan Trak could not be cut by steel or other metals, but could still be harmed by rock or wood. And this would go for all of the Heiun Elements.)
The Heijhan Trak spells are sealed away between stone tablets known as the Heijhan Durs. The elements that fall under the Nameless God’s magical bias are in the tablet in the ruins of Kaylun while the elements under Fulfillment’s bias are sealed in Norsen’s Heijhan Dur. The mixed elements can be accessed from either Heijhan Dur.
In order to unlock a Heijhan Trak, one must select the spell for the Heiun element their own magical bias leans towards and place their hand over the runes for that element. If they chose an element that their bias does not lean towards, the energy of the Heijhan Trak will overwhelm and kill the host.
For this reason, and because of the runes on the Heijhan Dur used to activate the spells, many people believe the Heijhan Trak spells are Heiden magic despite them having other properties matching Heivl magic.
A particular Heijhan Trak spell can only be held by a single person at a time. So while it’s possible for one person to have the Water Heijhan Trak at the same time that someone else has the Lava version, it is not possible for two people to both simultaneously hold the same element. After the host of a spell either dies or relinquishes control over their Heijhan Trak, it returns to the Heijhan Dur where another person can unlock it.
Because these spells can only be held by one person at a time, the connection many of them have to the Nameless God, and the fact that they enhance magic to an alarming degree, Heijhan Trak spells have been singled out as a threat to the Empire and having possession one has become a crime punishable by death.
